long story short
me I am a thoughtful, creative and positive person. I love art and music (play cello in a band called Lux Interna). Grew up in Rochester, moved to Providence for school (RISD), then to San Francisco to make interactive art. Now live in New York and love it. I never want to stop growing. I love animated shorts, reading stuff about the mind and the future, watching tv (especially cartoons and especially bad tv too), people, traveling, coffee, crosswords, knitting, my apartment, cooking/eating, my family, boyfriend and friends. And I don't know if it's just me, but I haven't been bored in like 10 years.
short story long
I grew up in Rochester, NY and was inspired to go into art and design by my exceptional high school art teachers. In 2006, I graduated with a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where I majored in Film, Animation & Video with a concentration in Animation. While there, I was inspired by the way animation allowed me to combine so many different elements (sound, motion, music, time, images, etc.) to create something that ended up having a life of its own. I soon discovered scripting and interactivity as a way to add another level of life into my work. I made several interactive projects for animation assignments using Flash, and then took a few courses in robotics and interactivity in RISD's digital+media department.

After college, I began working with Snibbe Interactive in San Francisco, a company that creates interactive installations for museums and public spaces with an emphasis on social interaction. There, I worked with a talented team of artists, engineers, and generally creative people of all sorts to create pieces that spanned a great variety of disciplines. I worked in Flash and HTML during my initial three-month internship as a Flash designer. As the company grew and our clients began to request more narrative, immersive pieces that diverged from Scott Snibbe's more visually-minimalist work, I was put in charge of creating artwork for our installations. I developed a rich vector-art style that complemented the technology and engaged and immersed the people experiencing it. My hope was that the visual landscapes of the pieces would invite, capture and delight users, enriching their experiences with our interactives while softening the focus on the technology.

I created original concept art and composed the company's design documents, a critcal step in the creative pipeline that connected our clients with our creative team, engineers, installers and management while putting our company on the same page for production. These laid out interaction design, timeline and technical specifications for the pieces and incorporated concept art for look-and-feel. I gathered, created and composed images for the documents. When it came time to produce the final artwork for the pieces, I created art assets including backdrops, animated, user interface and sometimes interactive or scripted elements. I was involved in discovering many innovative solutions for problems involving technology and budget. Each piece and its production was unique, thus my responsibilities were unique to each one. Through Snibbe Interactive, my work has been shown in museums and public spaces all over the world. I have been able to see people enjoying pieces that I had a large hand in, and it is incredibly rewarding. I want to continue to create enriching experiences for people with my work.
